A drug called ON101, which regulates macrophages, has been tested in a Phase 3 MRCT across the US, China, and Taiwan on 236 subjects with Wagner Grade 1 or 2 diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs). The drug was shown to promote faster and more complete healing than the comparator drug, with no adverse events related to ON101 reported. In the real world, case collation from 133 patients with Wagner grade 1 to 4 DFUs showed the average complete healing rate to be 71% with ON101, with all patients reaching healing under infection control and necessary debridement. The drug shows promise as a solution for treating DFUs.
