This study uses genetic data from the UK Biobank to investigate the causal relationship between blood pressure variability (BPV) and dementia. Four GWAS studies were used to evaluate the genetic influence on dementia. Certain exclusion criteria were applied to select the genetic instruments (SNPs) and ensure data consistency. Four different methods were used to measure the causal effect. The results showed that systolic BPV was a significant risk factor for Alzheimer’s dementia, while diastolic BPV did not show significant evidence.
